The Republic of Kiribati
gained Independence from Britain.It's former name is Gilbert islands.The flag of Kiribati was adopted on July12,1979.
What does this flag mean?
The bottom half of the flag have six white and blue alternate wavy stripes.These represent the water of the Pacific.Above the weaves there is a half sun.It is of yellow golden colour.It is a symbol of rising sun.The seventeen rays coming out of the half sun represent the 16 islands and Banaba(It's former name is Ocean Island.)The frigate bird flies over the rising sun.It represents authority,freedom,and command of the sea.

The weather of Kiribati is pleasantly warm but humid. The wetter period is from December to May. The weather is more pleasant during the months of May to September.
